Places worth visiting on a nice spring day
Partying is great, but if you do it too much, you start to miss the sunlight in your life. Prague offers several spots, where you can enjoy the spring vibe to the fullest! Let’s take a look at the most popular places among the city!
Riegrovy sady
The park is located in Vinohrady, Prague 2. It is mostly visited for it’s very popular beer garden, which is often packed by tourists, erasmus people or anyone who enjoys an outdoor drinking and watching sports – apart from 3 different kinds of beer on a tap, wine and grilled food, you can enjoy a large projector screen as well.
There is plenty of other interesting activities to do in Riegrovy sady. You can simply lay down in the grass and do some sunbathing or grab a frisbee and enjoy the weather this way.
Besides the great view and actual park area, there are 3 other restaurants for you to visit.
The park can be easily reached by the bus 135 (stop Na smetance) or by the tram 11 (Italská).
It is open from April till October.
Letná park
This green oasis is a beautiful and popular park running along the Vltava river over looking the Old Town. It is visited not only for roller-blading, frisbee, tennis football or basketball, but for it’s beer garden, too. The beer garden is located directly across from Letna Chateau. It offers lots of picnic tables and a small playground as well. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a beautiful view of Prague with a cold beer and great company? This is the place!
It’s also great to organize a picnic, enjoy many sport activties or just go for a walk in a nature within the boundaries of a city.
Park is best accessible from the Strossmayerovo náměstí or Letenské náměstí tram stops.
Stromovka
Stromovka, or as you might have heard, the Royal Enclosure, could be easily labelled as Prague Central Park. This natural paradise embraces small lakes and majestic trees and it is a excellent place to go roller-blading or running, but it’s also great for having a picnic or even just for relaxing on one of many benches and looking around as the world goes by.
The park still offers so much more than recreation! A really interesting place you can find not too far from the entrance, is the Planetarium, where you can watch educational programmes about planets and other fascinating parts of the universe. Very close by the Planetarium is a small restaurant Vozovna Stromovka, with a playground and a trampoline (Let’s be honest, you’re excited now) and a diverse menu.
To get there, you can hop on any tram that goes to Výstaviště Holešovice, the park is nearby.
Ladronka
Attention for all roller-blading lovers! If you’re looking for a place to dust off your skills, this is it. This spot offers the longest road for roller-blading in Prague. And if you don’t have a pair of roller-skates, you can always borrow some there. Apart from skating, there’s a number of other activities you can try, such as bowling, beach volleyball, beach football and you can also borrow a frisbee, petanque, a ball, badminton set, or as mentioned before, roller-skates.
This park located on the boundary between Břevnov, Vypich and Motol also offers a great space for recreation, with many benches at the side of local paths. If you’re feeling a little lazy you can visit restaurant Ladronka, where you can choose to sit inside or in its outdoor garden.
It is open from 1.4. till 30.9.
It is accessible by a tram number 22 or 25 (tram stop Vypich) or by a bus number 191, 108 or 179.
Žluté lázně
Almost everyone who have lived in Prague more than 3 months, have heard about this place.
And even though it’s a lot more visited in summer this famous and popular resort has already a lot to offer. Apart from many restaurants, bars, sunbathing space and a little beach you can enjoy a field for beach volleyball, petanque, table tennis, football, go paddle boating or rent a small boat or a longboard. In summer, you can also go for a swim in Vltava, but most people rather chose to stay on the land. Žluté lázně also have a free wifi in the whole areal.
To get there get on a tram number 21, 16, 17, 3, tram stop Dvorce.
Prague ZOO
Everybody should at least once visit the Prague ZOO. It is a fun and even educational way how to spend a nice afternoon. The whole complex offers several pavilons housing all kinds of animals, from reptiles to giraffes and tigers. If you get a little tired, you can have a nice meal in some of the restaurants there, go to the observation tower or buy a nice souvenir. You can also try out the chairlift and enjoy a beautiful view of Trója. The ZOO is open from 9 am – 6 am, in summer till 7 pm.
You can get there by a bus number 112 (from Nádraží Holešovice).
Paddle boating
Enjoy the historical heart of Prague from the surface of Vltava! The rental place is located between the National theatre and Charles bridge. You can rent a claasic paddle boat of all shapes (a swan – like boat as well), a boat with paddles or a motor boat. You can bring your own food or drinks with you before you rent a boat. You get to see the beauty of Old town – the Theatre, Charles bridge, Kampa or Žofín. You also get to go by a restaurant with a live band, so you can just „park“ there, have a beer, pizza (or whatever you bring with you) and enjoy the music.
It is open everyday from 10 am – 12 am. During the summer you can also go paddle boating at night.
To get there, go to the tram stop Národní divadlo (Tram number 17,18) from there go down the stairs near the tram stop.
This is just a little taste from all the places that can be found around Prague, but I hope this guide will be useful and help you to have a good time!
